Red Rocoto Peper plant
Velvet-leaved plants with large purple blossoms and black seeded fruits. One-inch round green peppers ripen to a vivid red. Requires an extended growing season with long day lengths and cooler temperatures than other peppers. Best grown in containers on a porch or other shaded area. Peruvian in origin. Of the three rocoto varieties (red, orange, and yellow) the red is the least hot but most prolific with plants producing over 50 fruits in a season.
